Fear of the unknown, roadblocks, failure, heartbreak or self-doubt… any of those keep you in bondage? Do you have a passion for something but you seem to be paralyzed more often than you enjoy the sweet aroma of victory and success? Everyone struggles with this to varying degrees. Submitting to the struggle leaves your dreams and passions in the dust of yesterday to be haunted by the possibility of tomorrow.
Persistence is the key. No one ever said abiding within a situation would be easy, but yet we are still called to stay true to our individual purpose. Persistent participation in activities that make your dream a reality leads to permanence.
Now if you actively dwell in a mindset that tells you things aren’t possible, then they aren’t… Will Hoge could have given up on his lifelong passion of music. In 2008, while ironically working on his album The Wreckage, Hoge was involved in a scooter accident after leaving a studio session and was admitted to a local hospital in critical condition. He could have looked at this situation as some kind of sign telling him to regroup his life, check his priorities, or even to stay off the music path. Will overcame his negative circumstances. After many months of therapy and numerous surgeries, he released The Wreckage. This song, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” talks about anyone out there chasing a dream. If Will can keep his dream alive, so can you. Hopefully this song will encourage you to ignore the negativity in your head or coming at you from those around you. Everyone needs a believing mirror – let this song be one for you today.
Even If It Breaks Your Heart
Way back on the radio dial
A fire got lit inside a bright eyed child
Every note just wrapped around your soul
From steel guitar to Memphis all the way to rock and roll
Woah I can hear ’em playing
I can hear the ringing of a beat up old guitar
Woah I can hear ’em saying
Keep on dreaming even if it breaks your heart
Downtown where I used to wander
Old enough to get there but too young to get inside
I would stand out on the sidewalk
Listen to the music playing every Friday night
Some dreams stay with you forever
Drag you around and lead you back to where you were
Some dreams keep on getting better
Got to keep believing if you want to know for sure
