"I Don’t Blog," Well Why Not?

blogBeing new to blogs and blogging I am still learning about all the “ins and outs”. I regularly get into discussions with friends about blogs and you would be surprised at how many people say, “I don’t blog.” They go on to tell me they don’t understand it, don’t know how, and that it scares them.

Not really sure where the fear comes from.  But usually when something is new to a person, the lack of knowledge about the topic tends to leave their conclusions based on hearsay and incorrect information.  Blogs, in their most primitive forms have been around since 1979.  That might seem impossible since the internet was only at its beginnings and wasn’t widely accessible then, but I am getting ahead of myself.  Lets talk about what a blog is. Online Social Networking is a powerful tool most people are not sure how to harness. Here is a section from the article ‘Not a Site, but a Concept’: Tapping the Power of Social Networking:

NMB-logoThe Nashville Music Buzz Blog (formerly known as the Nashville Music Muse Blog) is up and running.  You will notice nothing has changed except for the schnazzy new logo and the name of the blog itself.

I know what you are thinking, “Didn’t this blog just start a few weeks ago and you are already re-branding?”  Yes, it did.  But every now and then you get a rock in your shoe.  Sometimes that requires simply removing the rock.  Other times you change shoes altogether so as to avoid future rocks.  The new blog title is an attempt to clear up some misconceptions that have started to surface. Noise“Information overload” is not a new term.  The internet has brought the world to our finger tips.  We are bombarded with more facts than ever before.  Between e-mail, blogs, social networking, and online videos,  people are well informed.  You can imagine how “noisy” the internet is.  Compared to 500 or more cable channels on the television trying to produce content that is attractive, the internet offers a tsunami of options and opinions trying to engage the listener.
