Today, NSAI is in it’s 44th year, and it is stronger than ever!  Acting as the unofficial “Chamber of Commerce” for Music Row, it is a buzzing hive of activity.  Read the rest of this entry »

“The Star Spangled Banner”, the national anthem of the United States of America, was officially installed as the country’s patriotic melody by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931, which was signed by President Herbert Hoover.  Previous to 1931 however, it was recognized for official use by the Navy in 1889 and the President in 1916.  Although it has obvious patriotic roots, who knew that the country’s national anthem would also be an official lover of sports. Natalie Hemby: Not Exactly Under The Radar

A few weeks ago I had the chance to sit down with Nashville native and songbird, Natalie Hemby.  Most recently known for achieving her first number 1 with her Miranda Lambert co-write of “White Liar,” Natalie is certainly beginning to turn heads in the Nashville music scene.  When speaking with people in music circles they ask her, “Where did you come from?”  She says they act like she has just fallen out of the sky.

Although locals think she has been under the radar, Natalie is the prime example of how slow and steady wins the race.  When she was describing the art of songwriting she said, Read the rest of this entry »

Musician of the Year WHO??

In Best Practices, Music, Music Business, Music History, Musician, nashville, People that Rock, Road Musician, Studio Musician on November 11, 2009 at 5:00 am

National media has been buzzzzzing about the CMA Awards.  Good Morning America, LIVE with Regis and Kelly, along with others have featured musical guests and live performances to feature the nominees of the show.  Even the online radio station, http://www.pandora.com had advertising spots pushing the show.  You have seen the likes of Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Kellie Pickler, Brad Paisley, and Tim McGraw just to name a few grace the air waves pushing their agenda and giving good press for the CMA Awards.

A few names you will not see in the general press are the nominees for Musician of the Year. These individuals have dedicated their lives to country music and they will be in small print at the bottom of press releases and breezed by on the red carpet. This town is about hard work and sacrifice.  These people leave their families and friends and travel on the road right along the side of the artists but you can’t see them cause they are standing in the shadows of the spotlight.
